Wanshou Temple

Wanshou TempleWanshou Temple (the temple of longevity) is located at the Suzhou Jie (Suzhou street) in Beijing. It was built in the 16th century during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It was an imperial dwelling and celebration place for the imperial families during the Ming and Qing dynasty. In addition to being a Buddhist temple, the Wanshou Temple today also houses an art museum, the Beijing Art Museum.

The construction of Wanshou Temple consists of eastern, middle and western sections. The Beijing Art Museum housed in the Wanshou Temple is a comprehensive museum which has collected and preserved precious historical relics and many ancient art treasures with range from the Neolithic Age, to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as the modern times.
