Zhoukoudian Peking Man Museum

Located about 50 kilometers south of Beijing, China, Zhoukoudian Cave is the source for the largest collection of Homo erectus fossils from any single site. The fossils from Zhoukoudian represent about 40 individuals, and account for about one third of the fossils from the species. Among the bones discovered were five skullcaps, numerous facial and cranial elements, and 147 teeth. The most famous of these remains is cranium XII, which is commonly referred to as "Peking Man."
