Tour Itinerary
This hiking tour includes visits to Tianning Temple, the Xuanwu Art Garden and the Hongfangzi Hutong, as well as the Diabolo Museum, where guests can experience the Chinese yo-yo, or 'diabolo'. At the Xuanwu Art Garden, guests can play shuttlecock or dance with local elderly residents, offering an authentic, immersive experience close to the locals. The setting is natural and rustic, and you won't encounter any other tourists along the way.
You will explore a community and learn about the lives of ordinary people, from their religious beliefs and hobbies to their housing and post-retirement circumstances. Your exploration will begin with the local people's religious faith. Your guide will take you to Tianning Temple, the oldest temple in Beijing, and recount stories about it while explaining the religious activities that people enjoy participating in.
You will then traverse residential neighbourhoods built in the 1990s, gaining insights into Beijing's housing development. You will also visit a beautiful park where elderly people exercise. Retirement life in China may differ greatly from that in your own country. After the tour, you will visit an authentic hutong, free from other tourists, to experience traditional hutong living.
