Tour Itinerary
Your guide will meet you at your hotel lobby at 9:30 PM, then take a Taxi to join the class.
Located in Beijing, Hutong Cuisine stands out as the city's top choice for immersive cooking classes in traditional Hutong settings. The school offers exceptional value with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning.
With a focus on local ingredients and seasonings, the teacher guides students through practical exercises that deepen their understanding of Chinese cuisine.
Participants: a maximum of 10 students, shared with other students for a social, hands-on experience
Class Schedule: 10:30 am-1:30 pm
The teacher will explain the differences between light and dark soy sauces, white and dark vinegar, and cooking and Shaoxing wines. They will also cover the different quality grades and good brands. This is important for Chinese cooking.
During classes, the teather demonstrates the preparation of three dishes, allowing students to engage in making two or three of them. Each day's menu is thoughtfully structured to focus on dishes that share a common cooking technique, providing students with a comprehensive learning experience. As a delightful conclusion to the class, participants come together to enjoy a shared meal.
Hutongs are ancient narrow pathways surrounded by traditional courtyard homes, remnants of old Beijing. These historic alleys are fading fast, offering a glimpse into the city's past. On this tour, you'll wander through these charming lanes, visit a local family, exploring the unique lifestyle and preservation efforts of local families.
Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to climb the Bell Tower for a panoramic view of the Hutong area. The tour covers a walking distance of approximately 800 meters, providing a rich experience of Beijing's cultural history.
