The Chengde Summer Palace consists of various pavilions, temples and other structures. We will visit two out of the eight outer temples – the Pule Temple and the Putuozongcheng Temple. The Pule Temple is located in a plain area where one can see panoramic mountain scenery. The magnificent Pule Temple blends Chinese style and Tibetan style structures, with a large number of glazed ornaments and colorful decorations. The Putuozongcheng Temple is known as the "Small Potala Palace" outside Tibet as the temple was built by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty to accommodate the Dalai Lama of Tibet.
