Tour Details

Day 1Beijing

Your cruise will disembark at Tianjin Cruise Port in the early morning. Our guide will pick you up at the port. Around 3 hours' drive by our private van and experienced driver will take you to Beijing City. Your Beijing tour starts with a visit to the Summer Palace after checking in to your hotel. The Summer Palace was a royal garden for royal families only. It is the largest and best preserved imperial garden in China with its architectural grandeur and stunning natural beauty. Transfer back to your hotel after the tour. Dinner is at your own arrangement. There are a selection of restaurants and cafes catering different cuisines in Wangfujing which is within walking distance from your hotel.

Day 2Beijing

Today is a full day visit to the city essence including the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Hutong. The Forbidden City is a real treasure house that contains Chinese cultural and historical relics. The over 9,000 courtyards and rooms witnessed the supreme power of the royal families. Tiananmen Square is just across the street of Wumen (The Meridian Gate) of the Forbidden City. It is the largest city square in China and many important big events are held here. Hutongs are small alleys that are lined by courtyards on each side. The Hutongs give a wonderful glimpse into the world of yesterday of Beijing and provide a unique atmosphere of slow paced living charms.

Day 3Beijing

After breakfast, we will drive to the Mutianyu Great Wall which is a 2 hours ride from the city. Mutianyu is a less visited section of the Great Wall. There are 22 watchtowers distributed on both sides of the wall and it stretches 2.5 kilometers which takes more than an hour’s trekking. However, a cable car is available to be of help. Lunch is at a great local restaurant near Mutianyu and you have the chance to see the manufacturing process of Cloisonné in the biggest Cloisonné factory. In the afternoon, we will drive to the Changling Tomb which is the central and largest mausoleum of the thirteen Ming Tombs. The third emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Di, was buried here. Many objects and photos revealing the great achievements of Emperor Zhu Di are exhibited in Ling’en Palace which is a part of the Changling Tomb.

Day 4Beijing

In the morning, we will visit the Lama Temple which is an elegant and ancient temple known as the Yonghe Lamasery. It is the largest Tibetan-style lamasery outside Tibet and houses a treasury of Buddhist sculptured images of gods, demons and Buddhas, as well as Tibetan-style murals. Step out of the Yonghe Lamasery, and Guozijian is within 10 minutes' drive. Guozijian was the highest official institution of learning in ancient Chinese dynasties. The Imperial College is a remarkable complex consisting of over one hundred buildings and is the only imperial college preserved from ancient times to now. We head to Beijing Zoo to see the National Treasure of China – the panda - and other animals, after lunch at a great local restaurant. Out last stop today is the Temple of Heaven. Different from the red and yellow colors of the Forbidden City and the Tibetan-style Lama Temple, the Temple of Heaven is a Buddhist temple decorated in red and blue colors. It was the altar where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties prayed for a good harvest.
