Beijing Airpot History
Beijing Capital International Airport, under the administrative control of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), officially opened on March 2, 1958. To meet the ever-growing demand of passengers, BCIA has carried out large-scale expansion and reconstruction projects for altogether seven times since 1965.
On January 1st, 1980, the terminal 1 with an area of 60,000 ㎡ was formally put into operation. The Terminal was enlarged again from October 1995 to November 1999. The Terminal 2, covering an area of 336,000 ㎡went into operation on November 1st, 1999. To accommodate the ever-growing traffic volume, BCIA started the construction of Terminal 3 on March 28, 2004. BCIA completed the construction in 2008 after 3 years and 9 months hard work, making it the second largest airport terminal in the world after Dubai International Airport's Terminal 3.
