The Silk Street (Xiushui Street Market)
The Silk Street opened for business in its shiny new shopping building on March 19th 2005, replacing the original outdoor Xiushui Street Market, which becomes the tourists’ shopping paradise. After the new Silk Street establishment, the business scope has been diversified. Besides selling the fashion apparels and accessories such as hats, shoes, handbags, belts, silk, the Silk Street also introduce traditional Chinese handicrafts, antiques, carpets, calligraphy, bed coverings, hand-knit dresses, paintings, toys, electronic gadgets, fine jewelry and so on. Multinational coffees and restaurant chains such as Lavazza, SPR Coffee, Caffe L'affare, Subway (restaurant), Quanjude Beijing Roasted Duck and TCBY also open their branches at the Silk Street to become the "ultimate one-stop tourist destination" in Beijing. 
On the other hand, the salespeople are trained much better both in language and service. Bargaining is an essential here, so be sure that you have your strategy before you venture out here in order to buy the stuff with the best discounted prices. Be alert to the fake goods, they could still be found here though the government working hard to weed them out. The Silk Street lies along the Chang An avenue close to the Yong An Li (120) line 1 subway station. You can walk directly from the subway into the mall through an underground passageway without suffering the heat of summer or the cold of winter. The easy is you also can take a taxi. You can not miss this when you are in Beijing, this could be the best place for you to shop and visit.
